So Long Sylvia

Survivor Fiji Episode 3

Ravu Tribe

(the Have Nots)
Rocky "We just can't seem to win right now."

They seem really focused on winning Immunity next time.

Big Earl returns. Michelle tries to make fire with eye glasses and with a little help from Anthony they are successful!

Will this psych them up enough to win a challenge?

Moto Tribe

(the Have's)
Life is hard [sarcasm], they are painting the wood floor of their shelter blue. They hope the paint will keep the ants out.

Reward Challenge

Reward, Choice of: luxury items from home, fishing gear, or fresh fruit.
Challenge: Water slide basketball game.
Moto won Reward, they pick Sylvia to go to Exile Island.

Exile Island

Sylvia was Exiled. (No Immunity for Exilee this time.)
Clue 3: Dig under tallest part of the arch in the cave back at camp.
Sylvia did not do well in the Reward Challenge will this make her a target at Tribal Council?

Papa Smurf Trouble

Gary (aka Papa Smurf for his white beard and blue t-shirt) has trouble breathing and the medics arrive. The Doc thinks it's a muscular-skelital thing and they give him some basic pain killers.

Immunity Challenge

Challenge: Food Eating
Motu won Immunity.
(Sylvia back for challenge.)
Foods: clam, octopus tenticle, peanut worm, sea cucumber, fish eyes, pig snouts (with some hair still on them).
Papa Smurf won it for Motu. Sylvia lost her round for Ravu.

Schemimg is Free

It looks like Sylvia is in danger of being voted off unless she can find the Hidden Immunity Idol. Anthony says Sylvia is going to be voted off. Rocky and Rita talk and he says Anthony is the back-up if Sylvia has the Immunity Idol. Mookie is not happy with Anthony's performance at the Immunity Challenge. Sylvia has been told that Anthony is going to be voted off.

Tribal Council

Jeff starts by saying it looks like they are disintegrating right before his eyes. He then has each of them discribe the tribe in one word, the word most often used is 'tired'.

Mookie and Anthony go at it after Mookie says he was pissed off at Anthony's performance at the Immunity Challenge. [Anthony is the one who lost to Papa Smurf.]

As Mookie votes for Anthony he says his vote isn't for Anthony's lack of will but for his attitude. Michelle said her vote for Sylvia was to see if she had the Immunity Idol.

Voted Off

Sylvia was voted off with 4 votes. Anthony got 3 votes and Earl 1 vote.

Jeff's Final Thought

Maybe one good thing came out of this Tribal Council - a little honesty. Maybe it will make a difference in the game.

Sylvia's Final Words

. . . well, I've been had . . . I'm not too happy . . . I like both groups of people . . . I'm not angry or resentful, I look forward to seeing them after they've clawed each other's eyes out . . .

This Isn't Survival...It's 'Thrival'

A member of the Moto tribe experiences serious health problems and the Ravu team attempts to create a fire with a pair of eyeglasses. At tribal council, the third person is voted off of the islands. Jeff Probst is the host.

After a fall during the Reward Challenge, one Survivor struggles to catch their breath, causing an emergency visit from the medical team. Can they overcome this unfortunate situation or will they be forced to leave the game?

On Exile Island, one Survivor realizes the importance of finding the hidden Immunity Idol if they want to stay in the game. Will they be able to dig up the Idol without their other tribemates finding out?

In the Immunity Challenge, the Survivors are forced to eat foods off the Fijian menu, including fish eyes and pig snouts with hair still on them.

One extremely dehydrated Survivor makes a desperate attempt to start fire with their eyeglasses. Will they get a flame or just burn out tired and frustrated?

Rumors

There aren't many rumors this week. There's talk of Sylvia or Gary being voted off.

Ep. 2, Good-Bye Erica

Snakes Are Misunderstood...We Have an Understanding Now

Ravu Tribe

(the Have-Nots)

Dehydration forces them to scrounge for water by drinking it off of leaves. Trying to rub sticks to make fire. Getting water from coconuts. Sylvia back and Yaoman checks for Idol. Sylvia learns they have no fire.Michelle and Anthony think Sylvia is bossy. Sylvia knows she is vulnerable. She hasn't had time to look for the Immunity Idol. Erica, Earl and Rocky climb mountain in search of food. They find nothing. Back near camp, Erica finds pineapples!

Moto Tribe

They enjoy their nice camp - plenty of food and water.

Boo walked into a sign and his eye is swollen. Then he hurts himself with an ax. In private Dreamz tells us that he was homeless as a child (mother a crack addict) and says Survivor is easier than being homeless.

Reward and Immunity Challenge

Reward: Fishing gear (and fire if Ravu win)
Challenge: Boat race and puzzle pole.
Moto won Reward and Immunity, they pick Earl to go to Exile Island.

Exile Island

Earl was Exiled.
Clue 2: Under center of highest point at camp (not exact words).
Earl seems to think Sylvia will be voted off in his absence.

Schemimg is Free

Rocky complains about Erica to Mookie. [A Rocky-Mookie Alliance?] They talk with Anthony about 'switching it up' and voting off Erica instead of Sylvia (Sylvia will be next). Anthony talks with Michelle [do they have an alliance?]. Then he talks with [female].

Tribal Council

Jeff focused on Sylvia and Erica, neither one really handled the questions very well.

Jeff's Final Thought

Not much to say, this tribe needs to find a way to win. Once agin you will return to camp without fire.

Erica's Final Words

. . . very, very shocked to be voted off . . . it hurt to be blindsided like that . . . not real smart to vote off a strong player . . .

Immunity Idol Rules

- The Idol can be used up to the Final Five (last season it was the final four).
- It is to be used after votes have been cast but before votes are revealed. At this time the Idol can also be given to another person to be used.
- If the Idol saves a Survivor then the person with the next most votes will be voted off.

Tonight on Survivor . . .

Hunger and dehydration take their toll on the Survivors, leaving one barely able to stand.

On Exile Island, one Survivor comes face to face with a deadly sea snake and is forced to make a difficult decision.

Stakes are high in the combined Immunity/Reward Challenge, giving one tribe hope for food and fire. Will they triumph despite being famished?

As Tribal Council nears, one tribemate tries to redirect the votes by petitioning against the majority. Who will be the next to go?

Rumors

The online chatter seems to indicate that the Moto tribe (the 'Haves') win both the Reward Challenge and the Immunity Challenge. Erica is rumored to be the one voted off.

Ep. 1, Survivor Fiji Has Started!

General Impressions

This looks like an interesting bunch of contestants and I like that one tribe will live in a luxury camp. I wonder how often they will change who gets to live in luxury? What will happen at the merge? Will the merged tribe get that nice camp?

We now know why there are just 19 Survivors, according to Jeff someone dropped out at the last minute - too scared to compete. I really don't care if this person ever comes to light. He/she was accepted to participate on Survivor and quit at the last minute, I bet thousands of applicants are really disappointed with this person.

The Nail That Stands Up . . .

. . . gets hammered down. Often on Survivor one person stands out early on by bossing and ordering the others around. I was afraid Sylvia was making that mistake but I don't think she was too bossy and she did end up going to Exile Island.

Rocky versus Dreamz, Round 1

These two went at it one night, yelling and pointing fingers at each other. What about I'm not real sure, but Dreamz was talking loudly as everyone was trying to sleep. Sylvia was right in putting them in different tribes. Will their animosity continue in the challenges?

Fiji Fauna

Sea snakes and spiders, oh my! They look cool, are they poisonous?

Immunity Idol

I like that the clues to it are on Exile Island and the actual Immunity Idol is hidden somewhere around camp. This is all we and Sylvia know at this point. If she is smart then she will be watching whoever is the Exilee like a hawk when he/she returns.

Winner Quotes

Did anyone catch any Winner Quotes? None stood out to me.

Who do you like and dis-like?

I kind of like Yaoman, with the rest of them the jury is still out for me.

Jeff Probst is the host.

Blog Note

My main computer, an Apple Mac G4, died this week after almost five years of trusted service. On it was MacJournal, the journal application that made blogging so easy, and my various graphics apps that I used to cobble together this humble Survivor blog.

So my blogging about Survivor will be limited over the first few weeks this season. At the very least I will do a preview of each episode and then post my comments about the episode after it airs. Rumors will probably be very limited. Visually this blog will not be as colorful and eye-catching as in the past - hopefully this lasts just a short time.

I hope that you will hang in here with me as I get things straightened out.

Survivor Fiji Starts This Thursday!

Survivor Fiji premiers this Thursday on CBS at 8:00 pm ET and once again I will be following the reality show. I'm not sure that I will have enough time to preview each contestant before then but I will have a preview of the first episode posted Thursday morning.

Spoiler Warning!
I'm not big on spoilers (I like to be surprised), but I do discuss rumors as they present themselves which some viewers may consider spoilers. I also include any significant rumors in my episode previews.

It should be obvious but I'll state it nonetheless:
